PM Core Road Automated Tooth Form Grinding
Two core rods were presented to the CNC grinder for tooth form grinding. Both were ground to a tolerance of within 0.0001" per side (within 0.0002" OD measured over pins). The process was nearly completely unattended and was set up by a technician who had never ground this type of tooling before.
Diamond-Wheel Dresser Automates Carbide Grinding
Automatic wheel dressing is essential for successful CNC surface grinding. Amada Wasino's MeisterPro has an accurate and efficient wheel-dressing system, but it doesn't work on diamond wheels. Most solutions for dealing with diamond-wheel corner breakdown are clumsy or expensive, and they've severely limited the use of CNC surface grinding for carbide workpieces.
High Speed Grinding Reduces Total Processing Time From 8 Hours to 2.5 Hours
A mid-sized job shop that specialized in precision tooling, produced close tolerance form punches in close to one-quarter the previous processing time. This company had been producing 4 punches per 8 hours. This included rough milling and finish grinding. Their new CNC tool room grinding process reduced the processing time to 2.5 hours.
A Rotary-Table Surface Grinder Speeds Production, Simplifies Setup
This large bearing manufacturer needed an improved process for grinding the races in bearing sets that range from 3.5 to 11 inches in diameter. The preload of their angular-contact ball-bearing sets is determined by the relative widths of each pair of races, which are machined to final dimensions by flat surface grinding.
